HET BROEKENHUIS, De Dellen 16D Surhuisterveen

Hoe het begon: Na een soort van schooltest zou ik o.a. geschikt moeten zijn voor de winkel. Zo gezegd, zo gedaan. Na de (M)ULO kon ik gelijk aan de slag bij D. Kooy, de Kolk (manufacturen) in Surhuisterveen. Een jaar later was er een vacature als verkoper bij fam. Van der Boom in Leeuwarden, bij de nevenvestiging in Drachten.
Ondertussen had ik de Handelschool in Drachten doorlopen en de nodige textieldiploma’s gehaald. Textielbrevet A en B (Detex) mondeling examen in Amsterdam (Krasnapolsky) en schriftelijk in Maastricht (Vrijthof) in 1967. Tevens ben ik geslaagd voor etaleursdiploma in Leeuwarden. Na ca. 5 jaar gewerkt te hebben in Drachten werd de zaak over gedaan aan Fa. J. Tempelman uit Deventer/Hengelo. Mijn toenmalige collega K. Veenstra begon in die tijd een eigen speciaalzaak in broeken e.d. in Drachten. Samen hebben we deze zaak 8 jaar gerund en verder opgebouwd.

In 1977 vond ik de tijd rijp om voor mezelf te beginnen. Er kwam een pand vrij aan De Dellen in Surhuisterveen in de oude melkfabriek (EDS-galerij).
De nodige papieren, zoals o.a. vestigingsvergunning, werd verkregen bij de Kamer van Koophandel. Sinds 2 januari 1978 heb ik een eigen kledingzaak opgestart als “Het Broekenhuis”. In 1988/1989 werd de EDS-winkelgalerij met de grond gelijkgemaakt en kwam er nieuwbouw voor in de plaats.
In 1990 zijn we een Vennootschap Onder Firma (VOF) aangegaan. 

Wist u dat u ook bij ons terecht kunt voor het laten stomen/wassen van kleding? Deze vorm van service doen we al 30 jaar. Tot op heden zijn wij nog steeds actief op De Dellen 16D (naast Action en Scapino). Al met al bestaan we dus al 47 jaar (waar is de tijd toch gebleven).

Het doel van ons bedrijf: Wij zijn een soort van speciaalzaak in (spijker) broeken en vrijetijdskleding.

“Door de jaren heen zijn wij een begrip geworden in de regio.”

Ons motto: Voor al je broeken en vrijetijdskleding “Het Broekenhuis”.

Toekomstplannen? Menigeen heeft wel een hobby, de zaak is nu voor mij een hobby.
