Juf Conny over Surhuizum en de school “Elk bern is unyk”

Wie in Surhuizum naar school is gegaan, kent haar: juf Conny Notebomer. Jarenlang stond ze voor de klas en later werkte ze als intern begeleider. Maar ook buiten de schoolmuren was Conny een bekend gezicht. Lang actief in verenigingen, betrokken bij de kerk en aanwezig bij dorpsactiviteiten zoals de Spulwike. Nu ze met pensioen is, blikken we samen met haar terug op een leven vol Surhuizum en onderwijs.

Surhuizum

“Yn 1983 bin ik hjir kommen te wenjen yn Surhuzum,” vertelt Conny. “Rogchert is myn man, yn 1988 binne wy troud. Wy hawwe yn 1990 ús eigen hûs boud op de Treaskes en dêr hawwe wy trije bern krigen. Wy hawwe goed 30 jier yn it doarp wenne, it grutste diel fan ús libben binne wy surhústers west”.

Het dorp werd echt hun plek. “It grappige is dat ús mem út Surhuzum komt, en dat ik hjir sels wer telâne kommen bin. We diene altyd mei mei de Spulwike, mei de toertochten, wy spilen beide follybal yn Surhuzum en wy hawwe yn in protte ferienings meidraait. Rogchert by SVS, ik yn it Pleatslik Belang. Mar ek klublieding en kategisaasje jûn en tegearre as jeugdâlderling by de tsjerke. We ha der hiel wat tiid yn stutsen.”
Conny was ook aanwezig bij het 50-jarige jubileum van de Spulwike. “Bern kamen doe wer even by my foar in knuffel. Dat stikje mis ik wol.”

De kinderen van Conny groeiden op in Surhuizum, maakten hun vrienden en vriendinnen in het dorp en vonden het fijn op school. “Us bern woenen hjir net wei. Dat wie ek de reden wêrom't wy doe net fuortgien binne. En hiel spesjaal, úteinlik ha ik se allegear sels yn’e klasse han.”

School

Voor veel Surhústers is ze vooral bekend als juf Conny. “Ik ha noait twivele oft ik wat oars woe. Underwiis wie foar my altyd dúdlik. Doe't ik in jier as fiif wie boarte ik al mei freondintsjes skoaltsje, en ik wie fansels altyd de juf.”

Via haar pake hoorde Conny dat er op de Balkenspringer, toen nog de Johannes Looijengaskoalle een plekje vrij was. “Ik woe opfalle en bin gewoan de skoalle ynrûn. Dêr trof ik Henk Hofman, it haad fan de skoalle. Wy giene tegearre ûnder in sigaretsje efkes yn petear, en dat klikte fuortdaalk. Dêrnei waard ik útnûge foar in proefles. Ik mocht as earste begjinne en dêrnei kaam der noch in oare kandidaat.” Deselde middeis kryg ik al berjocht dat ik de baan krigen hie.

Jarenlang stond Conny voor de klas, maar de laatste vijftien jaar werkte ze als intern begeleider. “Dat betsjut dat je ferantwurdlik binne foar de soarch op skoalle. As der wat opfalt mei bygelyks lêzen of rekkenjen of as der thús wat spilet, dan sykje we nei oplossingen. Mar it moaiste fyn ik de gesprekjes ien-op-ien mei bern. Elk bern is unyk, en ik haw dêr altyd in soad nocht oan hân.”

Conny is niet te stoppen

Officieel is Conny met pensioen, maar stilzitten kan ze niet. Ze neemt nog audits af in het onderwijs, doet administratief werk bij hun eigen bouwbedrijf en geniet volop van haar twee kleinkinderen. “Ik pas twa dagen yn de wike op, ien dei by my thús en de oare dei yn Weesp. Dit binne de moaiste dagen fan de wike, prachtich om te sjen hoe’t de lytskes harren ûntwikkelje. Tegearre mei de beppesizzers fan alles ûndernimme, dit is it moaiste wat der is.
